Overview
Based from Basingstoke, Yeovil or South Brent office, working around South West/South East & South Central (nothing inside M25). Working 08:30 - 17:00 Monday - Friday.
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will contribute to an environment where you can perform at your best, with a balanced work/life approach. You will work across Social Housing Planned and Responsive Repair works programs, combining home/office and on‑site collaboration in an inclusive and fair environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead your team of commercially focused colleagues to obtain and evaluate information to guarantee a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials and services for designated Social Housing, tenanted, planned works refurbishments and responsive repairs. Liaise with Contractors, Suppliers and Clients to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet contract requirements.
* Manage the commercial performance of the sub regional office, typically covering multiple projects at one time.
* Support forecasting and future projections for the sub region.
* Manage the CVR process on a monthly basis for all sub regional contracts, with the support of the Surveyors.
* Monitor contract progress and report any changes that may affect project costs and/or time scales.
* Manage controls around individual contract budgets.
* Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts for designated projects.
* Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment to the client or their representative; submit invoices for certified value and ensure payments are received on time.
* Value and authorise payments to sub-contractors.
* Assist in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids and tenders.
* Liaise with contract managers to establish project specifications and requirements.
* Assist in the development of the procurement programme.
* Mentor and support Surveyors in the region to maintain a strong focus on contract commerciality within the sub region.
Qualifications
* Experience of working as a Managing or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Construction industry, with understanding of refurbishments and responsive repairs (particularly PPP) in a live environment.
* Distinct advantage if experience is within Social Housing; will help you hit the ground running and contribute to the team.
* Ideally experience of managing a team of QSs and their workload while also managing your own projects.
* Strong commercial acumen with excellent attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills.
* Expert IT skills with proficiency in MS Office.
* Full UK Driving Licence required; travel is a must for this role.
