Senior Occupational Therapist (Rotational)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Rotational Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the team at East Kent Hospitals. This post will be based at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, offering rotations within the Acute medical wards (including Healthcare of the Older Person), Critical Care, and Trauma/Orthopaedics, with potential for further specialty rotations in the future.
Our Occupational Therapists collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to support patients on the acute wards through assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to:
1. Manage a clinical caseload, including assessment, formulation, and evaluation of patient-centered care.
2. Facilitate safe discharge planning from hospital to the community.
3. Deputize for the Team Leader on clinical and managerial issues.
4. Participate in training and development activities within the department, supporting new graduates, student therapists, apprentices, and support workers.
5. Promote the role of OT and demonstrate core values within the MDT.

Person Specification
Qualification
* BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
* Membership of RCOT
* Membership of RCOT specialist sections or equivalent
Skills
* Highly developed clinical skills
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
* Strong organizational skills
* Experience in acute inpatient settings
Experience
* At least 18 months postgraduate experience in relevant care settings
* Proven ability to deliver high-quality interventions for high-risk patients
* Experience across various settings
* Ability to manage challenging situations
Knowledge
* Understanding of professional issues, NHS developments, Clinical Governance, NICE, and CQC standards
* Knowledge of current clinical and evidence-based practices
* Understanding of clinical pathways and complex assessment/discharge planning
* Experience with outcome measures related to Medical/HCOOP patients
* Awareness of the extended OT role within discharge pathways
