About the role
1. Working with children and young people with a diagnosed visual, hearing or multi-sensory (dual) impairment.
2. You should have an up to date and working knowledge of early child development and the national curriculum at the appropriate Key Stage, which could include the Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 5.
3. You should have experience of collaborative work with a range of professionals and agencies.
4. You should also have experience of producing specialist resources for children and young people with sensory impairment and other SEND.
5. Ideally, you should have both or either a qualification in Braille or British Sign Language (Level 2)
About the school
This SEND provision is funded by the council to provide hearing and/or vision support for learners (0-25 years). The team have qualified teachers who are specially trained in supporting learners with hearing and/or vision loss.
Requirements
To be considered for the role of Specialist Sensory Support Worker you will:
6. Setting up of VI/HI specialist equipment and delivering training on the use of equipment to both staff and pupils.
7. Supporting pupils in learning Braille, Touch Typing and how to use their assistive technology such as iPads.
8. Supporting pupils in learning Sign Supported English (SSE) and British Sign Language (BSL).
9. A qualification in Braille or British Sign Language (Level 2)

Salary
£385 to £420 per week
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
