As one of the UK's leading manufacturers of off-site constructed modular buildings, with over 30 years of industry experience, Ideal Building Systems Ltd is recognised for its commitment to quality, safety, and innovation. In this key role, you'll work closely with the Works Manager to ensure safe working practices are consistently followed across all areas of our operations, supporting strategic growth and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, review and maintain health & safety policies, risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work across the business
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards whilst compiling reports and creating action plans.
* Lead thorough accident and incident investigations and implement corrective actions
* Conduct regular audits and drive continuous improvement
* Deliver toolbox talks and training to staff on safety practices
* Coach and influence department leads and supervisors to embed safety and systems across all functions.
* Organise and manage training requirements, including maintaining the training matrix
* Ensure adequate supplies of first aid equipment, PPE and other safety essentials.
* Oversee and maintain ISO management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, 9001), ensuring ongoing compliance and audit readiness.
* Chair Health and Safety Committee Meetings
What We're Looking For:
* Minimum of 3 years proven experience in health and safety management role, ideally within a construction/manufacturing environment.
* Strong working knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices
* Experience managing ISO standards and certification processes
* Familiarity with operational systems (HRIS, ERP, or similar platforms) and data reporting
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* NEBOSH or equivalent qualification
* IOSH Train the Trainers or equivalent (desirable)
* Experience in the modular industry (desirable)
* Literate in Microsoft Office Suite
