We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team of experienced Advanced Drivers Coaches,

The purpose of an Advanced Driver Coach is to support our professional drivers, to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding allowing them to perform their duties in a safe and responsible manner whilst maintaining the highest standards at all times. The successful candidate will have added responsibilities that will include supporting with all aspects of driver training Including Driver’s CPC, along with peer to peer coaching, mentoring, and development.
What you’ll do on a typical day
• On a typical day you will assist colleagues to enhance their range of skills and potential. As an ADC your objective is to promote best practice in all aspects of logistics, training, and driver development and your role will involve:
• In cab “peer to peer” mentoring and completion of the Driver Training Needs Analysis check list including de-brief (using all available technology) and the creation of individual Driver Development Plans
• Conducting driving assessments as part of the driver recruitment process (agency and Royal Mail drivers)
• Delivery of induction training to our new drivers (agency and Royal Mail drivers)
• Delivering Driver CPC to ensure that all our drivers remain compliant with regulations.
• Deploying a nationally consistent method of training/coaching of technical, driving and associated skills. This will include training/coaching of product developments of existing equipment or the introduction of new technologies as well as manual and mechanical handling training and other Health and Safety refresher training relevant for Professional Drivers
• Site Risk Assessments relating to HGV activity
• Ensuring that all training records and related paperwork is kept accurate and up to date.
• Responsible for maintaining and documenting their own continuous professional development
What you need to succeed as an ADC:
• Be qualified to drive the same category of vehicle that you are supervising the driver in and have held a full clean licence for the category for at least 3 years
• Be flexible as the role requires a great deal of flexibility in your hours of attendance depending on the tasks at hand. The role will involve hours that cover all shift patterns including weekends when required (in line with the shift of the driver you are training). You will also be required to travel to other RM sites from time to time to assist the local team in their training provision.
• Have a good level of computer literacy.
• Be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Be adaptable and have a willingness to learn.
• Have good administrative skills.
• Demonstrate professional expertise and integrity in their current role
• Possess an excellent understanding of health and safety policies and procedures
• Have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to plan and organise your own workload.
Selection
All professional drivers with a permanent grade the same as the role they are applying for, or higher, will be able to apply for this post. If a professional driver holds a higher grade then they must be willing to change their grade permanently to the grade of the available role. All applications will be assessed through a two-stage process.
Stage 1 Application & Questionnaire
Interested employees will need to complete an ADC personality questionnaire and application form.
Stage 2 Assessment – Interview and presentation
Those selected to progress will be asked to give a short presentation/training session.
Given the range of tasks and the accredited nature of the job, the Advanced Driver Coach is considered a specialist role and before final appointment the successful candidate must achieve the relevant ADC training which is currently;
• Attend the PRIM Driver Coach and Assessor course. This is required by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT).
• Attend a ROSPA (or equivalent) course and achieve an agreed standard to enable them to professionally carry out training needs analysis for drivers by observing and analysing performance/behaviour, recording findings and providing comprehensive feedback. The Coach will themselves be trained in this field and hold a valid certificate of competence.
Pay:
The current value of the Advanced Driver Coach allowance is:
MGV ADC - £67.94 per week (pro-rated for part time employees)
