Amazon is seeking an Operations Manager for its Transportation team. In this role, you will work closely with fulfillment centers (FCs) and sort centers (SCs), last mile (LM) logistics partners, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth management of line haul operations across Amazon's middle mile network. The L4 manager will serve as the first point of contact for operational escalations, engaging with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues and prevent recurrence. Additionally, the manager will oversee a team of L3 associates and PAs, and will drive deployment of solutions from various improvement initiatives such as VRID hygiene, accruals improvement, in-transit loss reduction, developing a safety culture for drivers, truck utilization improvement, and new projects (Totes, PFS) at the zonal level. During business-as-usual operations, the manager will be rostered in shifts to monitor operations and work on improvement projects.
Essential Functions
* Carrier management and coordination with NOC & carriers
* Development initiatives for GB
* Driving improvement opportunities through Kaizen:
o Truck utilization
o Carrier arrival performance at destination
o Accident analysis
* Preparation for weekly business review (WBR)
* Ad-hoc planning and analysis for BAU
* Coordination with SLP & carriers to reduce in-transit losses
* Engagement with Safety teams to improve yard and road safety
* Driving R4D training and adoption with carriers
* Managing and raising MR PO processes
* Resolving invoice queries (vendor and Amazon)
* PO fund additions for on-time payments
* Maintaining distance annexure & route codes
* Accruals preparation
* Driving R4C adoption to enhance carrier experience:
o Pre-registration compliance
o LTR coding
o Load board
o Self-invoicing
o Driver assignment for R4D
* Aligning vehicle fleet plans with stakeholders (FC, SC, LM, SF)
* Preparing inputs for automated planning tools (e.g., MRO):
o Distance & transit time inputs for OD pairs
o Manual vehicle plan preparation
o Route optimization using tools
o Analysis of output for feasibility
o Reconfiguration of vehicle plans
o Coordination with NDC for truck filter changes
* Lane-level cube analysis for planning accuracy
* Management of Prime Now & WHT fleets:
o Fleet planning based on forecasts
o Accruals preparation
o Launching new arc movements
* Data analysis & execution of new projects (SFC, Totes, etc.)
* Launching new SC, FC, and stations:
o Pilot runs & feasibility assessments
o Preparing vehicle fleet plans
o Carrier allocation
* Execution of ART events:
o GB training & ramp-up before peak
o Vehicle rerouting to increase turns
o In-transit breakdown recovery/rescue planning
o Mechanic arrangements at origins
o Vendor control tower staffing
Minimum Qualifications
* At least 1 year of employee and performance management experience
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon experience
* Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays
* Ability to lift and push wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds
* At least 1 year of experience in performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques
