At Willow Pumps, we are proud to be one of the UK’s leading providers of water pump solutions, including design, supply, installation, and servicing of all ‘water in, waste out’ assets.
Over the past 30 years, we have grown a team of dedicated professionals providing a wide range of services from pump station design, installation, and maintenance. As we expanded, we also developed a successful drainage capability and a large tanker fleet, broadening our offerings from pumping solutions to a complete ‘water in, waste out’ service.
The Engineering Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a critical role in driving the growth and expansion of the company’s engineering services or products. This individual is responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing business opportunities with both new and existing clients. The role requires a blend of technical understanding, commercial acumen, and excellent relationship-building skills to effectively communicate the company’s engineering solutions and secure business deals.
What does it entail?
This role will be predominantly office-based at our HQ in Aylesford. You will be responsible for developing and growing new business accounts. You will manage the full process from generating leads, presenting business opportunities, to maintaining relationships with new and existing clients.
The ideal candidate will have proven sales experience within key industries such as Utilities, Aviation, Rail, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Residential. You should have an inquisitive nature and a strategic approach to maximising client relationships.
What experience and behaviours do we look for?
* 5+ years of experience in business development or sales within an engineering or technical services environment.
* Proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing large-scale deals.
* Experience in managing client relationships, including negotiating contracts and managing expectations.
* Experience working with technical teams to deliver engineering solutions.
* A positive self-starter with a strong commitment to your work.
* Up-to-date knowledge of social media trends, particularly LinkedIn.
* Energetic, tenacious, and positive outlook.
* Strong understanding of engineering products and services, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Knowledge of industry standards, market trends, and regulatory requirements relevant to engineering.
* Familiarity with project management tools and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
* Curious and inquisitive mindset.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Influencing skills.
* Full clean UK Driving license.
* Willingness to commute to the Head Office in Aylesford 1-2 days per week.
