Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic geomatics professional to join our team of Geomatics Analysts. You will work as part of a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of National Elevation Data Programmes, using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including an Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.

Team
The Geomatics team within National Monitoring Survey provides specialist services to enable effective evidence across the business. This includes collection and analysis of high-quality Lidar, Aerial Photography, Bathymetry & Satellite data. The team collaborates with National & Area teams to meet monitoring requirements for the Environment Agency and the wider environmental community.
Responsibilities
* Process and quality control data from LiDAR and related remote sensing sources using GIS and specialist software.
* Support the delivery of National Elevation Data Programmes and contribute to the analysis of survey datasets.
* Collaborate with National & Area teams to co-deliver monitoring requirements.
* Travel to EA offices as required and participate in team meetings to ensure connectivity and collaboration.
* Contribute to incident response duties as required by the role and working pattern.
Experience and Qualifications
* Relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with understanding of operational applications.
* Demonstrable GIS skills using ESRI products (ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) with experience of large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
* Experience of processing and quality control procedures on LiDAR datasets and LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) is advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills, motivation, professional attitude, and ability to communicate effectively; able to work with limited supervision to meet deadlines.
Additional Information
* The National Monitoring Survey team is national and based at various sites; you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office. Travel to the Bath hub as required and occasional in-office meetings may be needed.
* The post is full-time; other working patterns may be considered upon request. Interviews will be in-person at the Bath office and will include a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
* Length of contract: 17 months – Up to March 2027.
