1:1 Teaching Assistant – Supporting a Vulnerable Student

We are seeking a committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a well-established SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in the Wirral. This full-time position is focused on supporting a vulnerable student with complex needs, providing consistency, care, and structure throughout the school day.
The Role:
In this role, you’ll be working closely with one student, offering tailored academic and emotional support to help them engage with education and develop key life skills.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Providing dedicated 1:1 support, adapted to the student's emotional, behavioural, and learning needs
* Supporting learning activities in line with individual education plans
* Using positive behaviour support techniques to manage and de-escalate challenging situations
* Building a strong, trusting relationship to encourage participation and personal development
* Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies where needed
The Ideal Candidate:
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural challenges
* Confident in managing behaviours linked to trauma, anxiety, or emotional dysregulation
* Calm, consistent, and emotionally resilient
* Able to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
* Committed to a long-term role where routine and stability are key to student progress

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
