Independent Reviewing Officer – Child in Need
3 month interim contract
£45 per hour umbrella (full time 37 hours per week)
East England – Hybrid working 3-4 days onsite per week
We are seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to provide independent oversight and quality assurance for Child in Need cases. This is a critical role ensuring that care plans are robust, effective, and focused on the child’s best interests.
Working Arrangements
* Flexibility to work from home 1–2 days per week, depending on meetings
* All meetings are held face‑to‑face
Key Responsibilities
* Chair Child in Need meetings for complex cases, involving children, families, social workers, and other professionals.
* Quality assure care plans to ensure they meet the child’s needs and are outcome‑focused.
* Monitor progress and prevent drift in cases.
* Amplify the child’s voice in all decision‑making processes.
* Challenge poor practice and elevate concerns where necessary.
* Provide independent oversight separate from case management teams.
* Offer guidance and support to social workers and families, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Qualified social worker with Social Work England registration and significant experience in children’s services.
* Strong understanding of CIN processes and statutory requirements.
* Excellent communication and chairing skills.
* Ability to challenge and influence practice constructively.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service and 5 years references available upon successful appointment.
