Senior Youth Justice Officer
Location: Hybrid – Sand Martin House, 49 Lincoln Road & home working
Pay: £33 – £35 per hour (DOE)
Hours: 37 per week
Sanctuary Personnel is currently looking for an experienced Senior Youth Justice Officer to join the Targeted Support Service within Children’s Social Care. This is a pivotal role where you will manage complex caseloads of children and young people at risk of, or already involved in, the Youth Justice System. You will act as a lead professional where required and contribute to the ongoing development of the Youth Justice Service.
Main Duties
Manage a caseload of young people in line with youth justice legislation, national standards, and local policy.
Carry out comprehensive assessments around re-offending risk, safeguarding, and risk of serious harm using the AssetPlus framework.
Produce high-quality reports for court, referral orders, parenting assessments, and partner agencies.
Lead and deliver tailored interventions to reduce offending, safeguard young people, and promote positive outcomes.
Take a whole-family approach and develop contextual safeguarding plans when appropriate.
Build strong multi-agency relationships with Police, Probation, schools, health services, and other key partners.
Support, mentor, and supervise staff and students, including involvement in training and inductions.
Represent the service at court, presenting reports, prosecuting breaches, and providing professional advice.
Play an active role in service improvement, quality assurance, and performance development.
Requirements
Qualified in Social Work, Probation, or Youth Justice, with significant frontline experience.
Excellent understanding of youth justice legislation, safeguarding frameworks, and effective interventions with young people.
Skilled in managing caseloads, undertaking risk assessments, and coordinating risk management plans.
Strong report writing ability with experience of working collaboratively across agencies.
Full UK driving licence with business insurance and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional bank holidays.
