Senior Estimator
Location: North West London (Hybrid)
Salary: up to £85,000 (based on experience)

Are you an experienced estimator with a strong background in MV/HV substation and grid connection projects?
Our client, a leading engineering and utility contractor, is looking for a Senior Estimator to lead the preparation and coordination of project cost estimates on a long-term EHV distribution framework. This role will involve working across a mix of substation, cable route, and grid connection schemes up to 132kV, supporting both tender and project delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to fully understand scope, constraints, and deliverables.
* Prepare detailed and transparent cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment, subcontractor services, and overheads.
* Analyse cost data, identify key cost drivers and risks, and assess the impact of design changes or value engineering opportunities.
* Develop pricing strategies and tender mark-ups in line with market conditions and business objectives.
* Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal engineering disciplines to obtain quotations and validate inputs.
* Manage the bid process through submission, clarification, and negotiation, ensuring competitive and compliant tenders.
* Identify and assess project risks, preparing mitigation strategies and conducting cost-benefit or sensitivity analyses where required.
Ideal Background & Skills
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Electrical/Civil Engineering preferred.
* Proven experience as an estimator or quantity surveyor within the power, utilities, or infrastructure sector.
* Strong understanding of EHV/DNO framework projects, including 132kV, 66kV, and 33kV substations.
* Sound technical knowledge of civil, electrical, and construction activities, including sequencing, materials, and installation methods.
* Ability to produce and review detailed programmes using MS Project and contribute to design and construction risk registers.
