Role Description
The S&A Academy is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Quality of Education to lead the quality assurance and curriculum improvement across our apprenticeship and training provision. This strategic leadership role ensures that our programmes meet regulatory standards (Ofsted, Matrix etc.) and drive positive outcomes for learners and employers. The successful candidate will oversee internal quality assurance processes, shape teaching strategies, and support Ofsted readiness, fostering excellence in education across the Academy.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement the Quality Strategy for apprenticeship and commercial programmes.
* Oversee Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) processes, including sampling, standardisation, and moderation.
* Support curriculum planning to align with sector expectations and employer needs.
* Lead on the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP), involving staff, learners, and employers.
* Ensure Ofsted readiness, managing inspections and deep dives.
* Lead Matrix accreditation visits and other relevant accreditations.
* Observe teaching, learning, and assessment practices, providing developmental feedback.
* Analyse learner performance data to inform improvement strategies.
* Champion innovation in pedagogy, including technology-enhanced learning.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Ofsted EIF, DFE funding rules, and other regulatory requirements.
* Report to the senior leadership team and board on quality KPIs and risk areas.
* Deliver CPD programmes for tutors, coaches, and quality staff.
* Collaborate across departments (MIS, Operations, Safeguarding) to embed a culture of excellence.
* Ensure compliance with audit and inspection standards.
Key Skills/Requirements
* Qualified Teacher with a Degree in Education or equivalent.
* IQA Qualification (TAQA or equivalent).
* Minimum 5 years' experience managing apprenticeship provision.
* Strong understanding of Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and ESFA rules.
* Experience in curriculum development and leading IQA processes.
* Excellent leadership, coaching, and report-writing skills.
* Confidence in using learner data to drive improvements.
* Familiarity with digital platforms such as APTEM (desirable).
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel.
