Job Summary
As the Ward Manager on Cheerful Sparrows Female, you will be passionate about delivering outstanding and safe patient care, as well as continuing a positive working culture, benefitting staff and patients.
Responsibilities
* Act as a role model and provide professional leadership to nursing staff.
* Set, achieve and monitor quality standards.
* Support the matron to implement the agreed system of nursing audits.
* Maintain personal contact with patients, relatives and carers, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy.
* Participate in the provision of preceptorship and mentorship for new staff and for staff undertaking academic courses and pathways.
* Ensure the safe and effective use of all medical devices used within the Ward.
* Ensure the delivery of clinical governance and that the aims of clinical effectiveness are met from a nursing viewpoint.

Person Specification
* Essential:
o Registered General Nurse.
o Degree in Nursing or working towards a degree or equivalent.
o Preparation of mentors or equivalent.
* Clinical skills & experience:
o 2 years’ experience at Band 6 in a hospital setting.
o Resolving user concerns effectively.
o Continuous quality improvement.
o Experience in managing change.
o Expert clinical skills.
o Communication skills.
o Facilitation skills.
o Staff development and empowerment.
o Negotiating and influencing skills.
* Desirable:
o Health and safety knowledge.
o 5 years post-registration experience in various acute clinical settings.
o Some experience in budget management.
