Company Overview
Company is deploying a revolutionary technology that up-cycles any waste stream through molecular recycling into usable products and assets such as heat, steam, and water. This approach is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional processing of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), such as landfilling and incineration.
Position Overview
The primary role of this position is to design, implement, and assist in building various systems required for supporting company machine operation, site construction, or site operation. Primary duties include design, simulation, and experimentation. The Chemical Engineer would report directly to the VP of Engineering Operations and would work in a small team with a variety of engineering skill sets, with plans to grow rapidly.
Primary Responsibilities
* Design, simulate, and experiment with chemical processes
* Utilize UNISIM, MATLAB, ANSYS for reaction and product simulation
* Oversee chemical testing of materials in liquid and solid states
* Design equipment for water and solids treatment for specific reactants
* Design or specify gas treatment equipment
* Participate in design reviews, FEAs, RCAs, and technical discussions
* Collaborate with the technology team to provide feedback and implement product changes and design improvements for the MSW destructor
* Analyze and troubleshoot system issues
* Assist in manufacturing of designs
* Provide chemical designs for site construction
* Work with management and engineering teams to resolve problems
* Perform other duties as assigned
Specific Skills and Abilities
* Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools: UNISIM, MATLAB, ANSYS, FUSION, 3D modeling
* Experience with feedback control systems and plasma behavior
* Knowledge of hydrogen reactants and processes
* Experience with extracting materials using hydrogen solutions
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
* Basic electrical and automation system knowledge
* Adherence to safety procedures
* Proficiency with hand tools
* Strong teamwork and organizational skills
* Practical work ability and tolerance for fast-paced startup demands
Education and Experience
* Minimum 5 years of chemical/process design engineering experience
* Master's degree preferred
* PE license preferred but not required
* B.S. in engineering from an accredited institution
* Self-starter, willing to learn, and able to work with minimal supervision
