Job Overview
As a Park Warden, you will play a key role in creating safe, clean, and inclusive spaces for all park users. Duties include ensuring public safety, patrolling parks, engaging with the local community, enforcing regulations, and promoting park activities.
Key Responsibilities
Enforcement and Patrols
Enforce by-laws, dog control, and litter codes.
Patrol parks, investigate complaints, issue fines, and collaborate with PSNI when required.
Public Safety and Maintenance
Ensure visitor safety by addressing hazards, clearing litter, inspecting playgrounds, and maintaining clear pathways.
Security Duties
Patrol, secure, and monitor park buildings.
Maintain signage and carry out minor repairs where necessary.
Reporting
Use digital tools to record incidents and prepare detailed reports.
Community Engagement
Lead park tours and community events.
Educate visitors on appropriate park use and work with local schools and community groups.
Shifts and Hours
Summer: 42 hours per week (early shifts from 6:30am, late shifts up to 1 hour after park closing).
Winter: 29 hours per week.
Shifts include weekends and public holidays.
Requirements
Experience (minimum 1 year)
Proven experience dealing with members of the public.
Practical experience carrying out security duties such as patrolling, alarm response, and reporting.
Experience enforcing regulations such as dog control or litter codes.
Essential
A valid UK driving licence or the ability to arrange suitable transport.
Strong communication skills, ability to work as part of a team, and a good understanding of health and safety practices.
Training
Training will be provided for dog control and litter enforcement where required.
