The Role
This role sits within our new Neighbourhoods Services Team, which focuses on the issues and challenges faced within the Borough at a local neighbourhood level. Our Neighbourhoods Services Team is at the heart of this change driving forward the new way of working.

As an effective problem-solver, you will work alongside a wide range of key partners, community groups and residents to implement the Government's 10-year Smethwick Plan for Neighbourhoods programme and make a positive impact on people in Smethwick.

Your responsibilities will include:
You will develop funding projects as the single-point of contact with community organisations and partners, in-line with the priorities for the Plan for Neighbourhoods, which aim to build stronger communities in thriving places, who have taken back control of their development.

You will take an active role in reaching out to community organisations, encouraging them to develop projects, identifying partnerships and supporting hard-to-reach communities in creating projects and accessing funding.

You will contribute to the delivery of the Smethwick Plan for Neighbourhoods funding, supporting consultations and research to inform the long-term development of the Plan for Neighbourhoods within Smethwick.

You will work closely with key contacts including the Partnership Board, Elected Members, Council Directorates, Police, Fire and Rescue, Housing providers, NHS, voluntary, faith and community sector partners to support the development of Plan for Neighbourhood project.

You will develop positive working relationships with key stakeholders within each of the 4 Wards in Smethwick, to promote the long-term development of the Town.

You will identify and investigate potential match funding sources that align with the programme, and assist project leads in preparing funding bids to maximise available funding opportunities.

You must be prepared to work outside in all weathers. This role will involve some evening and weekend work to meet community needs.

About You

* Educated to Level 4 or with relevant experience.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience of working within a complex environment.
* Experience of working with grassroots and voluntary community organisations.
* Experience of collaborative working and partnership models.
* Experience of guiding and supervising project work, ensuring its completion.
* Experience of research and analysis within a relevant area and community/partner engagement.
* Experience of working with grants application and funding processes.
* A creative thinker able to challenge the thinking of others who may be more senior in a nonthreatening and productive manner.
* Experienced in influencing, negotiating and problem solving with partners to deliver outcomes for communities.
* Prepared to undertake further training as and when required.
* Able to lead by example and set high standards.
* Passionate about delivering the best possible outcomes for the people of Smethwick, and Sandwell more generally.
