As a Talking Therapies partnership, Vita Health Group is seeking aspiring Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) to join the Nottinghamshire Talking Therapies service as Trainee PWPs in the February 2026 cohort at Birmingham Newman University. This is a training post where you will undertake a Graduate Certificate or Post Graduate Certificate in Psychological Wellbeing Practice while delivering Low Intensity CBT-based interventions. The role supports you to provide evidence-based treatment for common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.
You will work with a motivated team of mental health professionals and supervisors who will support you to complete both academic study and clinical delivery. This is a fixed term role for 12 months; after completion there may be an opportunity to apply for a permanent PWP post.
A typical week includes 3 days of clinical practice with the service and 2 days at university. University days will be a mix of face-to-face and remote training, and you must be able to attend in person each week. Some remote working is possible, but you will be expected to attend one of the Nottingham offices for part of the week.
Job responsibilities
* Provide Low Intensity CBT-based interventions under supervision.
* Undertake graduate/postgraduate certificate training delivered by Birmingham Newman University starting February 2026.
* Join a team of mental health professionals and supervisors to complete academic study and clinical delivery.
* Contribute to NHS Talking Therapies delivery across Nottinghamshire within a Pharmacy/Trust aligned service.
* Maintain professional standards and work in accordance with service needs, including occasional out-of-hours flexibility as required.
Essential Criteria
* Good degree (2:2 or above; candidates with a 3rd may be considered for the Graduate Certificate route).
* Evidence of at least one year of work experience in settings with high exposure to people with mental health difficulties.
* Interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patients.
* Openness to learning new knowledge and skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
* Excellent administrative and time management skills.
* Flexibility to provide out-of-hours clinics as required (one late shift 12-8pm).
* Aware of and committed to diversity and inclusion.
Participants may undertake academic assessments at undergraduate or postgraduate level depending on prior attainment.
Other Requirements
* Provide a supporting statement (up to 1000 words) outlining why you are applying and how your skills transfer to the Trainee PWP role.
* Shortlisted applicants must be available for an academic orientation and assessment day at Birmingham Newman University on 6 November and interviews week of 10–17 November.
* Induction is planned for February 2026; DBS check will be required for appointment.
* Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction and eligible for Home Fee status.
