About the role
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Trainee Pensions Administrator to join our Pensions team based at Prescot.
Within this role you'll deliver pension administration services to customers of the Balfour Beatty Pensions Centre including Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) members of the Balfour Beatty Pension Fund (the "Fund") and related parties
What you'll be doing
As a Trainee Pensions Administrator you'll:
* You will have the opportunity to work within an award-winning and industry leading business and gain an understanding of every facet of running a pension fund
* Adherence to a structured training plan aimed at providing valuable support and skills needed to build confidence in the workplace
* The sponsorship of continued learning and development to help achieve career goals and progression
* Long term support tracker managed by a dedicated mentor
* An opportunity to train across several different pension disciplines
* Active participation in a variety of different projects and process and system improvements
* Learn the fundamentals of pensions administration and how pensions schemes should be administered to comply with legislation
* Providing information to members
* Creating and maintaining pension scheme member records
* Process pension case workflows across a wide range of DB Sections of the Fund
* Workflow types to include DB section deaths, retirements, and transfer outs
* Resolution of internal and external queries via telephone, email and letter.
* Process the payment of scheme benefits to pensioners
* Respond to DC Section queries, liaising with the Fund's DC Administration provider
* Support other work in fulfilment of the Resource Plan as and when required
Who we're looking for
You will have/be:
Qualifications
* Educated to A-level standard (or equivalent) and with a strong educational background
* There will be a requirement to undertake professional pension qualifications

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express complicated ideas in a concise and clear way
* The ability to adapt, multitask and flex to change
* A willingness to learn and progress
* Strong analytical and data interrogation skills
* Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and as a team player, proficient in managing your own workload
