Hays Accountancy & Finance are supporting an organisation in Kings Lynn who are looking for a temporary Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper to work 3 days a week in a temporary assignment until August 2026, covering transactional finance and assisting at month-end.
Your new role
In this part-time temporary finance job, you will support the wider finance team with transactional finance across sales and predominantly purchase ledger, checking that all invoices are being processed correctly with the relevant PO and cost code to allow the management accounting team to produce the management accounts. You will also undertake supplier and bank reconciliations at month-end as well as assist with posting of accruals, prepayments, journals and process any internal recharges.
Overall, you will be responsible for trial balance and, depending on experience, assisting with collating data for management accounts.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be immediately available or available at short notice and have the experience of producing accounts to trial balance, as well as have experience or at least an understanding of month-end reporting. We expect you to be confident with various accounting systems as well as Excel and able to investigate any transactional posting on behalf of the management accounts team and budget holders.
What you'll get in return
As explained, this is an ongoing temporary finance job working 3 days a week based on site in Kings Lynn, paying circa £31,500 pro rata for the part-time hours of 21 hours a week (3 days). Due to the nature of the organisation, Hays will undertake a DBS (CRB) check.
