Job Description
Senior IT Applications Analyst - Leicester (Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite) - £35k
A leading qualifications and examinations body is seeking a Senior IT Applications Analyst to support and enhance a range of business systems. This role plays a key part in delivering reliable, secure, and scalable applications that support thousands of learners, including those working in government, the armed forces, and safety-critical industries.
This is an ideal role for someone with solid experience in SQL and a good understanding of business applications who's ready to take on broader responsibilities in application support, systems integration, and continuous improvement.
What makes this role stand out?
* The organisation is continuously evolving its tech stack, introducing new platforms and services. You'll be part of that transformation and play a key role in integrating and supporting systems - some of which weren't originally built to work together, but now are, thanks to APIs and automation tools.
* There's a strong focus on quality over volume - you won't be resetting passwords all day. Instead, you'll be diving into real application logic, supporting Salesforce, LMS platforms, and a large data estate.
* The environment is structured but not rigid, with the opportunity to contribute to system improvements, help shape processes, and be a visible part of a close-knit IT team.
* Hybrid working is well established, with 2-3 days per week onsite in Leicester. During busy release cycles, you may need a bit more, but in general, flexibility is supported.
What you'll be doing:
* Supporting and improving a mix of enterprise and industry-specific applications, including Salesforce and LMS platforms
* Managing application releases, change control, and configuration
* Working with the data stack: SQL Server, Databricks, and Power BI
* Writing and maintaining technical documentation and standard reports
* Collaborating with internal users and third-party providers to resolve issues and plan improvements
* Helping ensure application integrations via APIs (REST/SOAP) function reliably
What they're looking for:
* At least 2 years of hands-on SQL experience in a support or analyst role
* Strong grasp of application support practices - not just front-line support, but actual systems troubleshooting
* Familiarity with Azure services, Salesforce, or automation tools is desirable but not essential
* Good communication skills and a service-minded attitude - able to work well with both technical and non-technical users
* An interest in systems integration, automation, and improving internal processes
If you're looking for a stable, well-scoped role with variety, growth potential, and meaningful work in the education and qualifications sector, this is a great fit.
