Job Overview
The HIV, Immunology, Gastro and Hepatology Research Team (HIGH) at North Bristol NHS Trust is looking for a Clinical Research Nurse to support a portfolio of commercial and non‑commercial research studies. This fixed term role offers an opportunity to build on existing clinical experience and contribute to evidence‑based patient care.
Please note this is a fixed‑term post in line with current research funding and we cannot guarantee an extension beyond this time.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the performance of the HIGH Research Team.
* Screen and recruit patients to a range of studies.
* Enter research data onto study databases and manage any queries raised.
* Coordinate the logistics for patient visits and undertake patient assessments in accordance with study protocol.
* Maintain Investigator site file(s) and complete Case Report Forms (CRFs) with a high degree of accuracy.
* Ensure accurate recording of study information in the patient’s records.
* Monitor patients for adverse events and report them timely.
* Work closely with the senior research nurse, research nurse team and R&D department to manage workload, study progress and personal development.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current live registration.
* Significant post‑registration experience, especially in extended roles.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing.
* Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Experience with IV administration, cannulation and venepuncture.
* Credit for experience in HIV, immunology, gastro or hepatology research is an advantage.
Desirable:
* Degree level education in nursing or a health‑related subject.
* Recent research work experience and familiarity with database use.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Previous experience of facilitating development of other staff.
