We are looking for a support worker to assist two Lovely Gentlemen with Learning Disabilities (Colchester CO3) £13.15 per hour | 24.5 hours per week | Driver preferred Location: Colchester CO3 area (role is community and home-based) Hours: Between 10am and 5pm Week 1: Monday to Friday Week 2: 3 weekdays Saturday & Sunday (The pattern alternates every week perfect for someone who likes variety!) We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable support worker to join our small team and help two wonderful gentlemen live happy, active and independent lives in their own home in Colchester. About the gentlemen youll be supporting: Gentleman 1 is gentle, shy and quiet. He loves: Colouring Classic board games (Noughts & Crosses, Snakes & Ladders) Watching DVDs 80s music Proper hearty dinners roasts, pizza and pasta are his favourites He can feel anxious in new or busy situations and needs to feel safe and settled. Once he knows and trusts you, hes lovely company he just needs someone patient who will take things at his pace and not expect him to start conversations. Gentleman 2 is chatty, independent and full of personality. He loves: Gaming on his PS5 (he has friends in other countries he chats to on headset every day!) Everything to do with buses and public transport Getting out and about on the buses This gentleman really values respect. He thrives when you chat with him like an equal, join in his interests and give him choice and control. What youll be doing: Supporting the gentlemen with their hobbies and interests (board games, 80s music, PS5 sessions, bus trips, cooking nice dinners) Helping with daily routines, personal care, meals and community outings Building real friendships consistency and trust are really important Encouraging independence while keeping them safe and happy Light household tasks as part of supporting them in their own home Were looking for someone who: Is warm, patient and genuinely enjoys spending time with people Respects peoples choices Driver's are preferred but not essential Can be consistent and reliable (the gentlemen really value knowing their support worker well) Has a good sense of humour Previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities is helpful but not essential the right attitude and personality are most important.
