1. Purpose of the job
To support, coach and assess apprentices working towards achieving an apprenticeship standard, ensuring they meet occupational standards, develop sufficient evidence to progress through gateway, and are fully prepared for End Point Assessment.
2. Key Accountabilities
1. Plan effectively to deliver training and assessment for apprentices in the workplace, supporting their progression towards gateway.
2. Provide training, coaching, and underpinning knowledge to apprentices to enable progress according to the apprenticeship level.
3. Manage a caseload of approximately 30-45 apprentices, with specific caseload to be agreed.
4. Complete high-quality initial training plans with assessments and employer input, including detailed training plans, start/end dates, and evidence of co-design.
5. Conduct regular, high-quality workplace reviews, setting and reviewing SMART targets, and ensuring sufficient evidence and documentation.
6. Attend departmental meetings to report on responsibilities and support program tracking.
7. Work with apprentices and employers to ensure timely progress and meet minimum durations.
8. Manage responsibilities to ensure achievement by planned end dates, aiming for above-average achievement rates.
9. Collaborate with Business Development for timely assessment of new employers.
10. Maintain up-to-date health and safety and insurance records for employers in your caseload.
11. Support apprentices in portfolio preparation to meet gateway requirements.
12. Contribute to continuous quality improvement in apprenticeship activities.
13. Participate in standardisation meetings, IQA/EQA activities, and reporting absences.
14. Sign off apprentices for gateway readiness, fostering positive employer relationships, and promoting further opportunities.
15. Maintain accurate appointment records and manage holidays in coordination with the team.
16. Provide ad hoc cover for classes and support college policies and events.
17. Engage in professional development and contribute to mentoring and training of colleagues.
18. Perform other duties as required by the Principal and Chief Executive.
