Overview
Job Title: Temporary School Attendance Service Officer. Location: Northwest London, Hybrid Working. Contract: Temporary, 3 months initially (potential for extension). Hours: Full-time.
Responsibilities
* Working closely with schools to monitor attendance data and identify patterns of concern.
* Engaging with children, parents, and carers to support improved attendance and address barriers to education.
* Conducting home visits where necessary to promote positive attendance and ensure pupil welfare.
* Providing advice, guidance, and support to school staff regarding attendance procedures and best practice.
* Preparing reports, maintaining accurate case records, and contributing to statutory processes where required.
* Liaising with internal teams and external agencies to promote safeguarding and coordinated support for pupils and families.
* Supporting enforcement procedures in line with local authority policy (e.g., penalty notices), where appropriate.
About You
* Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with families and professionals.
* Is confident working with sensitive information and challenging situations.
* Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Can work independently as well as part of a team.
* Has experience in an educational, social care, or community support role (desirable but not essential).
* Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
* Holds a full driving licence and has access to transport for home visits (preferred).
