University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated, experienced MR trained Radiographer to lead the MR Service at Furness General Hospital. This role will be suitable for someone who has proven experience in managing a MRI service or for an experienced Radiographer looking for a new challenge.
The MR department at the FGH provides a wide range of MR imaging procedures including MSK, neurological, vascular and oncology. The Radiology department has Sectra PACS and RIS. The MRI department is equipped with two Siemens MRI scanners. We have introduced a full 7 day MRI service.
Suitable applicants must be patient centred, caring and professional with recent extensive MRI experience, an interest in teaching, clinical governance and radiation protection, and either a Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and be registered with the HCPC.
Experience in CT is advantageous but not a requirement.
Responsibilities
* Act as the lead specialist radiographer in MR
* Deputise for the lead radiographer in CT and support this service in their absence.
* Manage the MR imaging department and lead a large team of specialist radiographers.
* Produce high quality diagnostic investigations.
* Write policies and examination protocols alongside the Clinical Lead Radiologist.
* Set up and maintain quality assurance programs.
* Conduct risk assessment and maintain health and safety for staff and patients.
* Be ultimately responsible for the technical and diagnostic quality of the examinations performed.
* Organise the daily workload.
* Supervise and train newly qualified or inexperienced radiographers.
