The Christchurch City Council Parks team are excited to be growing, and we want you to be part of our whanau. As a Supervisor, you will be leading one of our Parks and Gardens Maintenance teams, based out of the Hornby Depot, who are responsible for delivering a wide range of parks maintenance activities across our community parks.
Working within the community you will be exposed to the diverse cultures and beliefs that are within Christchurch; this involves being open minded and respectful to all that visit these special places.

As the Supervisor, you will be providing leadership and day to day support for the operational delivery of parks maintenance, and development activities for the city.
You will be responsible for coordinating the team(s) daily activities to ensure a high standard of service is provided for the citizens and visitors to Christchurch.
You will do this by:
* effectively and efficiently programming maintenance activities such as mowing, spraying, weeding, hedge trimming and planting
* building and maintaining professional and respectful working relationships with a variety of internal and external groups within the community.
About you - Ko Koe Tenei
You will be a people person with an optimistic outlook, with the flexibility to be involved in activities across the unit to address demand in department or area workloads. Building and maintaining relationships will come naturally to you, not only with your peers within the parks unit but across diverse community groups that reside within the city.
Requirements for this role include the following:
* A minimum of five years' experience in a similar environment, ideally with a minimum of two years in a leadership role
* Full driver's licence
* A minimum of Level 4 National Certificate in horticulture or equivalent, or extensive experience in a similar role
* Experience in mower operation, weed control and general gardening practices
* A Grow Safe qualification and/or a traffic management ticket/qualifications (desirable)

Hours of work - 40 hours per weekPosition - Permanent, full-timeLocation- This position is primarily based at Cable Street Depot HornbySalary - The salary band for this position goes from $81,227 to $90,252 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
