Senior Authorised Engineer Location: Durrington / Falmer (Hybrid) Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday) Salary: around £60,000 per annum (DOE) About the Role We are seeking an experienced technical authority to lead all aspects of electrical safety and engineering across our Water operations. This newly established role offers an exciting opportunity to shape how we manage electrical systems, influence engineering standards, and drive continuous improvement across our MEICA functions. As the Senior Authorised Engineer, you will act as a delegated Electrical Duty Holder, providing strategic oversight, ensuring legal compliance, and safeguarding our people and assets. Your expertise will play a key part in delivering safe, reliable services to millions of customers as Southern Water undergoes major transformation and investment. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all electrical safety responsibilities across Water Resources & Production. Manage health and safety risks, with a particular focus on high-voltage (HV) systems. Line manage a team of three mechanical and electrical technical specialists, offering leadership, coaching, and professional development. Monitor, assess, and manage electrical risks, supporting decisions ranging from immediate remedial actions to long‑term capital investment. Serve as the senior escalation point for electrical safety matters across operations. Maintain and continually update the Electrical Safety Rule Book, competency frameworks, and related governance documents. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to maintain industry‑leading electrical safety standards. Support operational incident response rotas as required (details to be discussed during the interview process). About You Essential Skills & Experience Chartered Engineer or MIECA membership. Significant experience managing HV and LV electrical systems within industrial environments. Proven leadership capabilities with strong coaching and people‑development skills. Demonstrable experience in electrical safety management and statutory compliance. Excellent risk management abilities and strong stakeholder engagement skills. Desirable Experience developing or implementing competency frameworks. Working knowledge of regulatory compliance and relevant electrical safety standards
