Cast, Doncaster’s flagship performance venue, is offering a unique opportunity for a talented individual with a track record in programming and producing to become our new Head of Creative Programme. This is a new permanent post and part of our senior management team.
The Head of Creative Programme will realise an ambitious programme of presented performances in our various spaces. The post holder will also produce the annual pantomime and any other produced work that we might undertake from time to time. The post holder will be a member of the senior management team and will contribute to the artistic and strategic development of Cast.
SUMMARY OF SKILLS PROFILE
Essential experience:
1. Experience of developing programming strategy for small scale and mid-scale spaces.
2. Experience of producing and managing contracts for touring productions
3. Significant experience of producing small and mid scale theatre based work and negotiating co-productions and co-commissions
4. Proven experience of managing production and project budgets
5. Demonstrable ability to think strategically and creatively, contributing to Cast's long term artistic vision
6. A track record in introducing new strands of work, evaluating and calculating artistic risk
7. Extensive range of contacts with promoters, agents and companies producing live performance work at both middle and small scale
Skills and Knowledge:
8. An understanding of how to balance the relationship between different types of programme, audience behaviour, financial targets and artistic outcomes
9. Good public speaking and presentation skills
10. Ability to think strategically and creatively, contributing to Cast's long term artistic vision
11. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and across internal departments
12. Excellent organisational skills
13. Understanding of the principles of effective line management
14. Financially astute
15. Understanding of issues which affect programming deals and production budgets including cultural exception from VAT, Theatre Tax Relief etc
16. Able to manage multiple priorities and drive projects working on own initiative
17. A good understanding of the UK theatre sector, and working knowledge of industry standard agreements
18. Effective and swift decision maker
