Clinical Support Worker Maternity Cover

Clinical Support Worker – 37.5 hours available Maternity Cover

We are seeking to recruit a Clinical Support Worker for Ward 3 at West Cumberland Hospital. We are looking for a caring, dedicated, innovative and motivated Clinical Support Worker to work as part of our dedicated multidisciplinary team. Ward 3 is a 16‑bed stroke rehab ward, where we work closely with an experienced and highly motivated multidisciplinary team.


Main duties of the job

You must have a caring approach, be an excellent communicator and be capable of delivering high standards of patient care. Shift pattern: days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Disclosure and Barring Service

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975; therefore disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) is required. The cost of DBS is met by the successful candidate through salary deduction: Standard Check £27.40, Enhanced Check £55.40.

Person Specification – Qualifications

* Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent in a range of patient and clinical care duties, or equivalent knowledge and experience equivalent to Level 3 – theoretical knowledge, experience of a range of care and related procedures, clinical observations, data protection legislation, health and safety legislation
* National Care Certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
* Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
* Undertaken relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers


Knowledge and Experience

* Experience of working in health or social care
* Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalating changes or findings
* Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision
* Understanding of the importance of robust, accurate, clear, timely documentation
* Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective teamwork
* Knowledge of safeguarding
* Understanding of work‑related boundaries
* Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality
* Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies
* Knowledge of clinical policies and procedures
* Evidence of understanding of Trust business
* Experience of working in the Trust previously
