An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent part-time position of Advanced Social Work Practitioner in the Adult Mental Health Social Work Team at Barnsley Council. The team comprises qualified social workers, some holding Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) and Best Interest Assessor (BIA) statuses. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, formulating care plans, reviews (including s117 aftercare reviews), social supervision, and preparing reports for individuals detained under s.2 of the Mental Health Act 1983, including attending tribunals. The role requires working within legal frameworks such as The Care Act, Safeguarding Adults, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. The successful candidate should be confident, able to build positive relationships with adults experiencing mental health issues, their families, and other professionals. Management responsibilities include supervision, care plan approval, work allocation, safeguarding management, and providing advice and support to team members.
