Job overview

The Hazardous Area Response Team works within hazardous areas, to deliver the highest standards of prehospital specialist clinical care to all patients actually or potentially affected by any major civil emergency, or an accidental or deliberate release of hazardous materials, or a chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear agent.

The HART Second in Command will be responsible for supervising a team of staff who will respond to incidents which have occurred in hazardous environments, or where the HART skills will improve patient outcomes, under the direction of the HART Team Leader.

This role allows operatives to develop the skills and work towards becoming successful future leaders.

It is expected that HART Second in Command will actively apply for HART Team Leader vacancies after 12 months in post (subject to availability).

Main duties of the job

The HART Second in Command will be responsible for ensuring all staff remain safe within the workplace.

The HART Second in Command will ensure all station duty tasks are completed by HART staff on shift.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. HCPC registered Paramedic
2. Currently competent in HART core competencies

Desirable criteria

3. Successfully completed a NARU USAR Course.
4. Successful completion of an EEAST Command Foundation Course.
