EYFS Teacher (Early Years Foundation Stage) - SEN Teaching Role About the Role Cover People UK are on the lookout for a warm, enthusiastic EYFS Teacher who loves working with little ones, especially those with special educational needs (SEN). The team is super welcoming and inclusive, supporting children with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). They are located in Trafford and really value diversity in all its forms. If you're someone who is patient, flexible, and creative in your teaching, especially with SEN children, you'll fit right in! What You'll Be Doing Planning and delivering fun, hands-on lessons that spark curiosity and cater to all sorts of learning styles, including those with ASD and PMLD. Creating a calm, caring, and accessible space where every child feels safe and confident to explore. Working closely with SEN specialists, therapists, families, and teaching assistants to tailor learning that meets each child?s individual needs. Using creative, inclusive strategies (sensory activities, visual supports, alternative communication methods) to help children with ASD and other learning differences thrive. Observing and assessing children regularly to track progress and tweak learning plans. Building strong relationships with parents and carers to support children inside and outside the classroom. Joining in training opportunities and sharing your SEN experience to help the whole team grow. What You'll Bring Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with solid experience in early years settings. Experience and confidence working with SEN children - especially those with SEN, ASD, and PMLD. Good knowledge of the EYFS framework and up-to-date, flexible teaching methods. Practical understanding of how to support different needs in inclusive or special schools (think sensory processing, communication challenges, and behaviour support). Strong communication skills and a collaborative, friendly approach. Passion for promoting inclusion and equality for all children. A Typical Day Looks Like Delivering lively, developmentally appropriate activities that work for a bunch of different learners. Observing and noting children?s interests, strengths, and challenges to inform personalised support. Using positive behaviour strategies and creating supportive routines to help children with social and emotional skills. Teaming up with teaching assistants and support staff to keep learning consistent and smooth. Chatting with parents regularly to share successes and plan next steps. Reflecting on your own practice and adapting as needed to best support your class. Championing kindness, respect, and a sense of belonging in your classroom.
