Role Overview
As part of the Energy Markets and Optimisation (EMO) function, this role will report to the Portfolio Management Lead. The candidate will develop a deep understanding of Energy Market Risks and strategies to mitigate them. The analysis will support the development of risk management strategies for complex energy and non-energy risks in domestic supply.
Key Outcomes
* Manage large data sets of costs and revenues to ensure accurate information for risk assessment.
* Interpret changes to market rules and regulations and their impact on hedging strategies.
* Collaborate with the Energy Data Science team to model costs and revenues.
* Develop and manage the Gross Margin at Risk (GMaR) metric.
* Design hedge strategies to increase certainty of achieving forecast gross margin.
* Manage weather-related exposures using appropriate derivative instruments.
Success Criteria
* Proficiency in large data set analysis and insight extraction.
* Rapid learning ability to understand existing models, processes, and energy markets.
* Initiative in addressing complex challenges.
* Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel knowledge.
* Experience writing SQL queries.
* Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
* Experience in data analysis with a programming language (e.g., Python or R).
* High attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to deconstruct complex problems involving large data.
* Team player versatile in a dynamic environment.

Salary: £36,000 – £60,000, based on skills and experience.
Bonus: 15% on-target bonus tied to collective performance.
