The Neighbourhood Officer role is central to delivering the vision of the Neighbourhoods Service: "that everyone in Derby can live in a place they call home, close to the people and things they love, as part of a community where people look out for one another and can do the things that matter to them". Working as part of a multi-disciplinary Neighbourhood Team, the postholder will work across the Abbey and Normanton wards, leading on the development and delivery of projects within the Neighbourhood Plan. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues, partners and communities to build on local strengths and improve outcomes for residents.
Responsibilities
* Neighbourhood Team in Locality Three.
* Lead on the development and delivery of agreed projects within the Neighbourhood Plan.
* Build strong, constructive relationships with Councillors and other elected representatives in a politically sensitive environment.
* Work alongside a broad range of professionals and partners across health, social care, education, community safety, community, faith and other sectors.
* Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and reporting, including data analysis and written reports.
Requirements / Core Competencies
* Resilience and flexibility – able to manage a varied workload where no two days are the same, taking an imaginative and adaptable approach.
* Political awareness – experience of working in a politically sensitive context and collaborating closely with Councillors/elected members.
* Community experience – experience of working in and with communities, with a strengths based approach that builds on assets in neighbourhoods, communities, partners and individuals.
* Excellent people skills – able to influence, negotiate and challenge appropriately, while maintaining positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Project management – experience and/or skills in managing projects from inception to completion.
* Communication and analysis – strong written skills (clear reports and briefings), and the ability to analyse data and gather information for monitoring and evaluation.
* Partnership working – confidence in working with professionals across health and social care, elected members, community leaders and organisations in the third sector, voluntary, community and faith sectors.
