Westin Par Recruitment Experts is recruiting a Freight Operations Lead for a growing freight forwarding business based near Dover.
This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in the fast-paced logistics world where organisation, communication and attention to detail keep international shipments moving smoothly.
You will take ownership of road freight, sea freight and air freight shipments from start to finish, ensuring they are booked efficiently, documented accurately and delivered to the highest operational standards.
If you enjoy negotiating freight rates, solving logistical challenges and building strong relationships with customers and suppliers, this role offers real responsibility and influence within the operations team.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing multi-modal freight shipments including road, sea and air freight
* Coordinating bookings with customers, carriers and suppliers
* Obtaining and negotiating competitive transport pricing
* Operating internal freight operations and booking systems
* Preparing accurate shipping documentation including AWBs, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin and EUR1 forms
* Monitoring shipment profitability through sales and cost reconciliation
* Producing weekly and monthly operational reporting
* Participating in bi-weekly management meetings with company directors
* Supporting and mentoring colleagues within the operations team
What They’re Looking For
* Experience within freight forwarding operations
* Knowledge of road freight, sea freight or air freight logistics
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build lasting customer and supplier relationships
* Commercial awareness with confidence negotiating freight costs
* Strong organisation and time-management skills in a busy operations environment
* High attention to detail when producing shipping and customs documentation
* A proactive and engaging team player with a positive attitude
