Job Title: Training Coordinator - Residential Children's Homes
Location: Eastbourne (with travel to London homes as required)
Reports to: Training Manager
Working Pattern: Full-time (9:00-5:00 or 8:30-4:30, with flexibility to cover evening/night training and workshops as required)

Role Overview
The Training Coordinator works closely with the Training Manager to support the
development and delivery of high-quality training across our residential children's homes. With a background in social care, learning, and development, you will ensure staff are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to meet the complex and diverse needs of the children and young people in our care.
You will:
* Deliver both mandatory and bespoke training.
* Assess learners completing Level 3 Diplomas in Residential Childcare.
* Support induction, coaching, and staff development across the homes.
* Help maintain compliance with regulatory standards, audits, and inspections.

Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery & Development
* Deliver and evaluate mandatory training programmes (e.g. Safeguarding, First Aid, Medication).
* Develop and deliver bespoke training tailored to the therapeutic, emotional, and
behavioural needs of children and young people.
* Ensure training is trauma-informed, attachment-aware, and aligned with child-centred practice.
Assessment & Quality Assurance
* Assess staff competence and learning needs in line with regulatory frameworks and individual development plans.
* Conduct assessments for learners completing Level 3 Diplomas in Residential
Childcare.
* Complete standardisation activities to ensure consistency in training delivery and assessment.
* Maintain accurate training records, reports, and compliance data for audits, Ofsted, and local authority inspections.
Staff Support & Development
* Collaborate with managers and the Training Manager to identify home-specific
training needs.
* Coach and mentor new and existing staff, supporting diploma progression and CPD.
* Support induction and onboarding to ensure new staff are prepared and confident.
Compliance & Safeguarding
* Ensure all training meets Ofsted and regulatory requirements.
* Promote safeguarding practices and ensure staff understand their responsibilities in protecting children and young people.
* Monitor expiry and refresh dates for all mandatory training to ensure 100%
compliance.
Person Specification
Essential
* Level 3 Award in Education & Training.
* Recognised Assessor qualification (TAQA/A1).
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, research-informed practice, and child
development.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage staff teams.
* Experience in designing and delivering blended learning programmes.
* Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Working Together to
Safeguard Children.
Desirable
* Experience in a residential childcare or social care setting.
* Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification.
