Overview

Senior Care Assistant - Roxholm Hall

44 hours per week • Days/Nights

The role of a Senior Care Assistant is an important and valued position within the Health & Social Care industry. You will lead, develop and coordinate a team of care workers to provide the highest standards of care to our residents, ensuring the dignity of the residents is always maintained.


Responsibilities

* Support the Manager in the overall management of the home.
* Assume responsibilities of the Manager in their absence.
* Create an environment which respects the rights and wishes of the residents and encourages person-centred care and maximises independence.
* Understand and provide the requirements for “normal” health and insight into the effects on the client and family when continued care is needed.
* Assist residents in daily care needs as they would normally undertake themselves if able.
* Participate in holistic caring activities and care for clients’ needs to optimise independence.
* Promote residents’ participation in planning and reviewing their care.
* Be responsible for the care planning process, maintaining appropriate medication and care delivery for a designated group of service users.
* Respect the individual’s right to confidentiality.
* Assist with moving and handling, dressing, and daily hygiene needs.
* Observe and report any changes in residents’ conditions.
* Report hazards or unsafe equipment to the Manager that may affect health and safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
* Attend in-service training as part of staff development and mandatory training, which is a legal requirement.
* Ensure service is delivered in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures and practices.


Qualifications (Desirable)

* NVQ 3 / MA L3 in Health and Social Care or working towards it.
* Previous experience as a senior in a Residential Care or Nursing Home.
* A passion for the care of the elderly.
* Experience of medication administration.
