Job Summary
NHS Highland is seeking to appoint a Consultant Paediatrician to join our supportive and dynamic team, based in Inverness. This is a 10 PA (8 DCC & 2 SPA) full-time post offering a unique opportunity to practise holistic, high-quality paediatric care across one of the most beautiful and varied regions in the UK.
About the Role
You will provide general paediatric care through outpatient clinics held at Raigmore Hospital and across our Rural General Hospitals. The role includes participation in the acute paediatric service through 'hot weeks' and non-resident on-call duties covering both the Neonatal Unit and Highland Children’s Unit. A robust middle-grade rota ensures a sustainable and well-supported workload.
This post is ideally suited to candidates with an interest in General Paediatrics and Neonatology, although there are opportunities to develop or maintain sub-specialty interests. Informal enquiries are strongly encouraged.
Our Team
* 12 hospital-based consultant paediatricians (6 WTE full-time, 2.9 WTE part-time, and 0.5 WTE combined post)
* 5 community-based consultant paediatricians (3.7 WTE, not involved in out-of-hours work)
* Collaborative working across hospital and community services
* Excellent links with tertiary centres in Glasgow and Edinburgh
