Job Title: API Automation Tester
Location: Northampton
Duration: until 31 December 2025
Rate: £250 per day - PAYE via Umbrella
Overall purpose of role:
* Under minimal supervision, create automation scripts including estimates, scripts, pre- and post-conditioning.
* Execute automated tests and collate evidence for test automation progress reporting and tracking.
* Communicate test execution details, data used, results, and defects to project stakeholders.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
* Experience with test automation tools, especially API test automation using REST Assured, Karate, Selenium, Cucumber with Java.
* Extensive knowledge of testing lifecycle and core testing processes and techniques using various test approaches.
* Proficiency in testing skills: estimating, designing test plans and strategies, writing test scenarios and cases, executing tests, logging bugs, and verifying fixes.
* Ability to identify processes and tools that improve testing quality and efficiency.
* Experience in writing high-quality, readable, reusable, and testable code.
* Clear communication skills regarding the status and progress of activities.
Key Accountabilities:
* Enhance testing efficiency and continuously improve test methods, techniques, and processes.
* Participate in requirements analysis, risk identification, and creation of test scenarios.
* Stay up-to-date with feature teams, identify inconsistencies, and resolve potential conflicts.
* Ensure full integration with a focus on overall service quality.
* Create automation code using Java, Selenium, JQuery, Cucumber.
* Set up and execute automated tests, recording evidence.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership:
* Promote best practices within the team and foster stewardship.
* Maintain current knowledge of emerging software development methods, tools, and standards.
* Champion innovation to improve customer satisfaction, technical excellence, and software delivery.
* Identify own and others' development needs, seeking guidance, coaching, and training opportunities.
* Provide clear written and verbal updates to stakeholders.
