Overview
Electrical Controls Engineer role at Omega. Base pay range is £60,000 plus a comprehensive package and overtime as a guide; applications taken on experience. Location: Goole, Doncaster area. Contract: Permanent. Client: Category market leader in FMCG Manufacturing with a multi-billion turnover.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the development, implementation, documentation, testing and maintenance of software for programmable safety systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
* Train and provide advice to Engineers and Operators as required.
* PLC alterations and improvements, and new installations including programming of software.
* Ensure machines and equipment are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.
* Collaborate across teams and contribute to key improvement projects while gaining experience with a variety of control systems.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot complex machine faults to reduce downtime.
* Develop automation skills and techniques through OEM training.
* Coach and mentor Maintenance Engineers on control systems.
* Proactively detect, report, diagnose and predict potential or existing software and electronic issues on all equipment.
* Involvement in fault-finding, diagnostics, and implementing permanent solutions to ensure safety, quality and efficiency.
Requirements & Qualifications
* Must possess an electrical engineering qualification (HNC/HND Level).
* Working knowledge of PLC systems and HMI software.
* Experience maintaining electrical/control systems on complex processes and/or high-speed production equipment.
* Experience troubleshooting, testing, and repairing instrumentation devices.
* Experience in PLC touchscreen controls and electrical maintenance.
* Problem-solving and root-cause analysis experience.
* Time-served Electrical Engineer; automation/controls apprenticeship with several years post-qualification experience in a manufacturing environment.
* HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Ability to fault-find and implement program modifications on a range of PLCs & SCADA.
* Knowledge of servo drives and inverters.
* Experience fault-finding on industrial communication networks.
* Experience designing and modifying control circuits and program logic.
