The Company/Role
Being a highly successful leading manufacturer of high-performance process chemicals, our client is looking to appoint a hands-on, motivated Assistant Production Supervisor to join their expanding team.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our production plant. You will also act as a stand-in Production Manager when required, ensuring operational continuity and compliance with company policies and safety standards.
As the Assistant Production Supervisor, your key responsibilities would be:
Monitor production equipment to ensure continuous and efficient manufacturing of chemical products.
Identify and respond promptly to production and mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
Assist with troubleshooting and rectifying mechanical and liaise with external contractors for maintenance, repair, and project work.
Supervise contractor activities on site to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
Manage and issue Permits to Work (PTW) for maintenance, contractor activities, and other non-routine tasks.
Monitor and maintain raw materials, finished goods, and consumable inventories.
Work closely with the logistics and procurement teams to ensure material availability.
Function as stand-in Production Supervisor during absences, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimization efforts.
The Assistant Production Supervisor will have the following skills & experience;
Must have solid experience of working within a Chemical or Process Manufacturing environment.
Previous experience working within a Team Leader or Supervisory position is required.
Strong understanding of Permits to Work, safety systems, and contractor management.
Basic mechanical aptitude and experience handling equipment breakdowns or maintenance coordination.
Previous experience working on any project work would be advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Excellent communication skills
