Senior AI/ML Engineer – Chester (2 days onsite a week)
I’m working with a well‑established, values‑led organisation operating at scale across the travel and leisure sector. They are investing heavily in AI and data, and are now looking to hire a Senior AI/ML Engineer to play a key role in building and productionising machine learning solutions that deliver real commercial impact.
This is a hands‑on senior engineering role with strong ownership across end‑to‑end AI/ML delivery, working closely with data science, product and engineering teams.
The Role:
* Design, build and maintain scalable, end‑to‑end AI/ML pipelines using Microsoft Fabric
* Develop, train, deploy and monitor machine learning and deep learning models
* Implement MLOps best practices including versioned data and features, CI/CD pipelines, model promotion and rollback
* Collaborate with data scientists, analytics engineers, product managers and software engineers to translate business problems into AI solutions
* Ensure strong standards around data quality, governance, security and responsible AI
* Evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies to enhance the AI/ML platform
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Qualifications:
* Strong experience designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and AI/ML architectures
* Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Engineering, Data Science and Real‑Time Analytics) and Azure ML, including MLflow
* Strong proficiency with Apache Spark, Azure Data Factory, Git, Python and SQL
* Experience developing, training and deploying machine learning models using TensorFlow, PyTorch or Scikit‑learn
* Solid understanding of data modelling, data governance, security and responsible AI principles
* Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
* Ability to manage priorities and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment
* Experience with generative AI and large language models, including LangChain, vector databases and retrieval‑augmented generation
* Knowledge of AutoML, hyperparameter optimisation and advanced MLflow features
* Experience working with streaming or real‑time data platforms
* Familiarity with CI/CD, MLOps and deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Docker)
* Commercial exposure to e‑commerce, travel or holiday‑lettings environments
* Experience mentoring others or leading technical workstreams
Salary and benefits:
Salary up to £80,000 per annum. Hybrid (2 days onsite). Strong benefits package including bonus, enhanced leave, wellbeing support and flexible working.
