Main duties of the job

* Provide professional nursing leadership to inspire, motivate and empower nurses within the service, providing expert advice.
* The post-holder will support the delivery of strategic and operational objectives set by West London Children's Healthcare (WLCH) and the Trust (Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust). In addition, they will act as a point of contact for advice and expertise on all matters relating to professional nursing issues.
* The post holder will contribute to both WLCH and Trust initiatives and plans, particularly with respect to changes in patient care delivery and clinical quality. They will provide clinical leadership, which inspires, motivates and empowers nurses.
* In conjunction with the Head of Nursing and Director of Nursing the post holder will ensure that there is optimal deployment of nursing staff to ensure high quality patient care is delivered and monitored.
* The successful applicant will support the operational delivery of WLCH and the Trust Quality agenda, including risk management, and quality improvement targets within nursing.
* In conjunction with the Head of Nursing and the Director of Nursing, and in collaboration with other members of the senior team, the post holder will support the management of establishments and the implementation of developments relating to nursing.

Person Specification


EDUCATION

* RSCN/RN (child)
* Educated to degree level in relevant subject area
* Recognised management qualification or equivalent experience
* Hold a Master's degree or working towards one.
* Have undertaken a recognisable PICU/ED or HDU module/ programme of study


SKILLS/ABILITIES

* Proven leadership skills through experience of leading a large team
* Strong commitment to improving patient services with a clear focus on achieving performance goals
* Proven organisational and people management skills
* Ability to think and work operationally and strategically


KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

* Experience at senior nurse level within children's services
* Appropriate knowledge and understanding of current issues in children's services
* Experience and knowledge of quality, standard setting and audit
