Overview
Lead Caretaker opportunity at Pioneer House High School. Grade 5, permanent post, 35 hours per week, all year round. Starting salary £29,064. Role to start as soon as pre-employment checks are complete.
Responsibilities
* Significant experience in a relevant discipline (senior caretaking/site keeping in a school or similar environment). Manage other estates staff including allocation and monitoring of work, performance appraisal, and supervision of external contractors on site. Act as a responsible key holder and manage maintenance, security and facilities systems on site, including alarm systems, CCTV and surveillance systems.
* Hands-on operational delivery of site caretaking, including maintaining the cleanliness and physical appearance of the site (inside and out), and maintenance of specialist facilities and equipment following appropriate training where applicable.
* Support the Site Manager by taking responsibility for the management of the school site and associated facilities under an agreed system of supervision, and development of specialist facilities services within the school.
* Assist in day-to-day management and evidencing the delivery of the school's planned preventative maintenance contract.
* Ensure the premises operate to a high standard of health and safety and that all relevant regulations are implemented and adhered to at all times.
* Ensure in-house testing and checks are undertaken and recorded in line with Trust processes, including fire bells tests and checks of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting and fire doors.
* Ensure general maintenance and repairs are completed swiftly and safely, addressing any safety hazards or unsafe practices in and around the building.
* Oversee regular grounds maintenance and cleaning duties, waste management, and safe access during severe weather.
* Support the day-to-day operation of the estates repairs and maintenance desk and associated system.
* Provide full line management of estates and site staff including recruitment, probationary management, performance management, absence management and staff development.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience in a senior caretaking/site maintenance role, knowledge of health and safety and hygiene procedures, and the ability to manage staff and external contractors. Ability to work as a responsible key holder and manage facilities systems on site.
