We have been exclusively retained by one of the UK's largest and most successful construction and development companies to grow their internal audit (and risk) team, nearly from scratch. The company is one of the UK's leaders in its industry and employs people throughout the country to build award-winning projects, which enhance local communities and neighbourhoods.
The most recent assignment we have been given is to find a Senior Internal Auditor/Internal Audit Manager who can be based anywhere in the UK (from home - your choice, with travel around the country).
Reporting directly to the Head of Audit, who in turn reports to the Board & the Audit Committee (AC), you will be responsible for managing and executing end-to-end Group-wide financial and operation audits and ad-hoc projects across all of the Group businesses, as part of the annual audit plan as well as managing the co-source delivered projects. The amount of travel required will vary, and will be will planned (likely to be c. 40% between the operations and head office).
To be successful in this role you will need to liaise and build relationships with internal stakeholders and work collaboratively with business leaders, acting as an ambassador to the audit team to promote a culture of continuous improvement for processes and controls. You will also need to be comfortable in working autonomously, with limited supervision and guide the co-sourced or guest audit resource through projects, with the aim of mitigating or removing risks going forward.
We are looking for a finance/accountancy/audit/advisory professional, with experience in audit, either from practice (Big 4 or Top 10), from industry or a mix of the two. A qualification would be a plus (eg. ACA, ACCA, CIA, etc.), but is not essential. Experience in the construction, engineering, development or building industries will of course also be a huge advantage.
