We are now inviting applications for the position of Assistant Accountant within the Finance Department, based at Fitzwilliam Hospital in Peterborough.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Production of timely and accurate statistical and financial information
2. Timely completion of required reports, audits and month end reconciliations
3. Processing of month end journals such as accruals and prepayments
4. Provide information and support to hospital departments, managers and staff as required
5. Provide hands on support to the billing team when required and play a key role in monitoring and improving revenue capture processes.
6. Provide support and improve cross departmental working in relation to finance and administration.
7. Support the Finance Manager with NHS contract reporting, billing and reconciliation.
8. Monitor aged debt reports and provide credit control support.
9. Liaise with Central Finance Function on matters such as fixed asset registers, purchase ledger and payroll where required.
10. Responsible for maintaining all documentation and records that are required for audit purposes.
Technical Skills & Application
11. A good understanding of accounting processes and procedures, including double entry bookkeeping
12. Confident in using Microsoft Office and computerised accounting software
13. Intermediate Excels skills to include pivot tables, basic formulas and V-Lookups
14. Proven ability to work to deadlines
15. Excellent attention to detail
16. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
17. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
18. Able to work under pressure and meet monthly deadlines
19. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated Customer Service skills
20. AAT Qualified or studying towards an accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA)
