Advert
Can you be a friendly ‘first face’ to parents and visitors whilst single-handedly managing the busy office?
You must be calm, positive, welcoming, firm, patient and incisive. You must be able to see the bigger picture and have an eye for detail.
You will be the public face of the school for parents and visitors, be able to manage the school's administrative software, put a plaster on a child's grazed knee, help a worried parent, arrange a school trip, send out a letter, book a supply teacher - often all at the same time!
We are a small school of just over 100 children and you will be the administrative lynchpin – but you will never be lonely! You will work closely with the Federation’s Senior Leadership Team, the class teachers, your compatriot at our sister-school in Chislet and of course our wonderful parents and children.
In short, you will be an important part of the team that ensures the school continues to operate smoothly! Ideally you have a school office or finance background or have transferable skills from the charity or business sectors. Kent Range 7 or 8 reflects the importance of the role.
Your responsibilities will include completing the work force census, school admissions and transfers, maintaining the Single Central Record, ordering and raising invoices and ensuring clear communication with all involved in school life.
At present the schools use Schools Financial Services to oversee our finances, but this advert contains the possibility that our next administrator has the financial skills and experience to take on the Bursar’s role for the two budgets. This would include the setting and closing of the annual school budgets, working with the Senior Leadership on the financial strategy for the schools and liaising with KCC and school governors on a regular basis.
We have two potential outcomes – appointing a new Office Manager and retaining SFS for our finances or appointing an Office and Finance Manager with the financial skills needed to set and oversee the school budgets. We are completely happy with either outcome! What will be of central importance is being the right person for our lovely school.
The working week is 37 hours, currently Monday to Friday between 8am and 4:45pm.
The role is Term Time Only, plus 5 Inset days, plus an additional week in the holidays making 40 weeks per year.
Our present Administrator retires this summer and we would like the successful candidate to begin before this to give a good handover period.
The ideal candidate will have Level 4 NVQ/degree/diploma qualifications but your relevant experience will be taken in to consideration. You will need to be IT proficient and have experience of a variety of different programs and systems.
