Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist – Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Applications are invited from ambitious, enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly multi‑disciplinary Gastroenterology Unit at Wirral University Teaching Hospital. The successful applicant(s) will support the delivery of high quality endoscopy care in an accredited JAG Endoscopy unit, undertake outpatient clinics, and provide inpatient care on our dedicated Gastroenterology Ward.
This post joins a committed team of 10 Substantive Gastroenterologists on the Wirral Peninsula. The Gastroenterology Unit is sub‑specialised into hepato‑pancreatobiliary (HPB) and luminal services. The new appointee is expected to have a broad‑based gastroenterology background with subspecialist clinical or endoscopy interests. Additional PA contracts may be offered depending on service needs.
As a consultant within the Medical Division, you are not required to take part in the general medical acute on‑call rota, but you will be part of the GI bleed rota.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high quality endoscopy care in an accredited JAG unit.
* Attend and manage outpatient clinics.
* Provide inpatient care on the dedicated Gastroenterology Ward.
* Participate in the GI bleed rota.
* Support the expansion of gastroenterology services on the Wirral Peninsula.
Qualifications
* Broad‑based gastroenterology background with subspecialist clinical or endoscopy interests.
* Experience in luminal practice preferred; HPB experience also acceptable.
* Strong clinical and procedural competence.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
