About the role
Responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of IT projects and services, from planning the solutions design through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality. This senior role involves working with and motivating cross-functional teams, managing resources and budgets, mitigating risks and dependencies, and communicating progress to key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
* Project lifecycle management: Plan, coordinate, and execute IT projects from inception to completion.
* Solution design: Gathering and analysing requirements, designing the system architecture, selecting technologies, and mapping out how different parts of the solution will work together to achieve the desired outcome. Ensuring the solution is feasible, viable, and aligned with business objectives and corporate IT policy before it is built.
* Team leadership: Lead and motivate delivery teams, manage their workload, and provide coaching to team members.
* Stakeholder communication: Keep stakeholders and senior management informed of project progress and manage their expectations.
* Budget and resource management: Manage departmental and project budgets and allocate resources effectively.
* Risk and issue management: Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and dependencies that could impact project delivery.
* Quality and standards: Ensure projects meet quality standards and that appropriate delivery methodologies are used.
* Process improvement: Work to continuously improve service delivery processes to better meet business needs.
Essential skills and qualifications
* Leadership: The ability to lead and motivate a team is crucial.
* Project management: Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and risk management.
* Communication: Excellent communication, both written and verbal, to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Technical understanding: A solid understanding of IT concepts and technologies to effectively manage projects and teams.
* Financial acumen: Experience in managing budgets and financial targets is often required.
* Agile/Lean practices: Familiarity with methodologies like Agile and Lean is increasingly important.
